PRESS RELEASE / ABS BRAKING NEWS
WE'RE MOVING! ABS FRICTION EXPANDS NORTH AMERICAN PRODUCTION...
ABS Friction, one of Canada’s oldest and largest disc pad manufacturers, has acquired and is moving to a new North American friction facility in January 2012. This production ready facility will enable ABS to double its manufacturing capacity and enhance its research and development facility. The new facilities are located at 55 Taggart Street in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
ABS Friction is making this investment to allow for enhanced service for its existing customer base; in addition to, the growth opportunities it sees for the North American market with copper-free disc pads.
CEO, Rick Jamieson said, “I believe in North American manufacturing. Not only is it necessary for our economy, but by being closer to our customers, we can be cost competitive with world markets and provide superior service. Our customers’ growing demand for our high-quality North American manufactured product has shown us the need for this expansion. My co-founder, Joe Schmidt, and I are very happy to be returning to a facility he helped launch a little over 20 years ago.”
